Financial Aid in Houston, Texas

First, let’s be realistic and state the obvious: the average family today does not have the money necessary to fund their children’s college education. When you consider that tuition and room and board at most top-tier colleges and universities can easily cost $20,000 to $40,000 a year, you can see why only the wealthy can afford to foot their child’s college bill themselves. Therefore, the vast majority of us will have to depend upon some form of financial aid if our children are to attend college.

DFS’ INSIDER’S TIP #1: Not having money doesn’t automatically qualify you for financial aid.

The Financial aid Formula

The Cost of Attendance – minus Expected Family Contribution (EFC) = Financial Need.

As hard as this is to believe, it’s true. You can be broke, living paycheck-to-paycheck and barely financially afloat, but because of sophisticated funding formulas and the college you select, your child may not receive financial aid for college. Even with good grades, many students still fail to receive necessary educational funding! What do you do? You need a working knowlege of the financial sid formula. It is a major componant of the the college funding process. Lack of knowlege is the main reeason students are not successful in receiving adequate  funding. However, after you read and incorporate infor, mation from this 12 step program into your college preparation plan, you will be fully informed and empowered. The program offers a step by step approach to the development of your child as a college-educated future professional.
